Campaigns

Since 1976, Animal Liberation has been fighting for transparency across all animal-related industries, to enable consumers to make educated choices. While also pushing for an Independent Office of Animal Welfare, the most effective way to reduce our impact and harm on others is to opt for a vegan lifestyle, avoiding the support of any industry that profits off the exploitation of animals.

End the Kangaroo Slaughter

The relentless killing of kangaroos is the largest land-based commercial slaughter of wildlife in the world.

The animal cruelty involved is unconscionable. It is time to recognise this senseless massacre for the national shame and disgrace that it is, and demand the government bring it to an end.

Help kangaroos by calling on your Federal MP to support an end to the slaughter.

Animal Liberation's exposé, 'Breaking the camel's back

Animal Liberation's Australian-first exposé shows wild camels captured, roughly handled, psychologically ‘broken’, and forced into servitude by a popular tourism operator in the Northern Territory.

Our investigation highlights some of the issues inherent in animal-based tourism and the lack of animal welfare regulation and oversight within the industry.

Ban Pig Dogging

Pig dogging is a legal blood “sport” that permits dogs to chase and latch onto wild pigs until the hunter catches up and stabs them to death.

Animal Liberation is pushing to ban this cruel and barbaric “sport”.

Demand Water for Ducks

Did you know that ducks are legally farmed without access to open water? Help Animal Liberation fight for ducks by demanding they have access to water.

Ban the whip

The racing industry has created a facade of glamour, but in reality, is founded on the exploitation and abuse of these gentle animals. The most visible element of cruelty to racehorses is the use of the whip.

We’ve monitored the stewards and recorded the number of times jockeys over-whip the horse without being penalised.

Short-Term Campaigns

Stop another greyhound death track

Goulburn Mulwaree Council is currently accepting public submissions in response to Development Application (DA) No 0200/2223 lodged by Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW), for a proposed straight greyhound track at the existing Goulburn Greyhound Racing Club Inc venue.

Reform pounds and shelters in NSW

NSW’s pound and shelter system is broken, as it continues to fail vulnerable animals and the communities who pay for these essential services. Animal Liberation and other animal advocates have been calling for pound and shelter reform for decades — and now is our opportunity to provide feedback and recommendations.

Improve rental laws in NSW

In NSW, landlords can ban companion animals from rental properties for no reason – it’s time to change that.

The NSW Government is seeking to improve laws to support renters, landlords and the community. Better rules for rentals will help give more stability for renters and certainty for landlords.

Object a cattle feedlot

The Central Coast Council (CCC) is calling for submissions in response to the public exhibition of a Development Application (DA) No DA/4247/2022 – an intensive cattle feedlot, with sheds and other associated works.

Now is our chance to stop animal cruelty and suffering before it begins.

Lodge a personalised submission today using our guide.

Submission close 5pm, 6 June 2023.

Keeping Pets in Residential Tenancies

The NSW Government is finally considering reforming tenancy law to make it easier to live with companion animals. Have your say today to help make this happen!

Blantyre Farm

Coming soon: Animal Liberation is fighting the development of an intensive pig farm that would imprison 2,200 females to sow stalls.

DPI Hunting review

The NSW Government is reviewing the regulations on hunting in New South Wales. This is important legislation because it manages compliance and enforcement. This is our opportunity to provide informed public feedback on behalf of wild animals in NSW.

Submissions are now closed.

An end to live sheep export is in sight

The Australian Government is currently asking for your feedback in regard to the phase-out of live sheep exports by sea.

Object to a Central Coast puppy factory

If you believe companion animals should not be exploited for profit through commercial breeding and intensive housing, please send a submission to oppose this Central Coast, NSW commercial dog breeding and intensive housing facility.

Speak up for nature

Like many Australians, we were shocked by the contents of the recent State of the Environment report. While it acknowledges that the pressures of climate change, habitat loss, pollution and mining have had a devastating toll on the Australian environment, much more must be done.

We must show the government that we support strong action to protect Australia's imperilled wildlife and their vulnerable habitat.

Object GRNSW Animal Training and Boarding Facility

It is critical that we maintain our opposition to this proposed development, and continue to advocate for meaningful and transparent outcomes for discarded NSW racing greyhounds.

Submissions are now closed.
