Protest the World’s Richest Turf Horse Race – ‘The Everest’!
Twelve horses will compete in The Everest; they will be whipped without mercy and pushed to their physical limits in an effort to win their human connections $13 million in prize money.
According to Racing NSW chief Peter V’Landys, The Everest is “designed for the under 35’s … to lure back lost generations of fans to the sport”.
While this industry puts on a glamorous front, the brutal reality is that 119 thoroughbreds died or were killed on Australian racetracks in the last year. That’s one trackside death recorded every 3 days. NSW recorded the highest number of trackside deaths out of any State.
The Everest aims to entice younger generations into doing exactly what generations before them have done – turn a blind eye to animal cruelty by supporting horse racing.
