Voiceless and The Mobile Education Van
For years Animal Liberation wanted to purchase an Education Van to raise awareness of animal cruelty in as many regions as possible.
In 2004 Voiceless generously donated a grant of $15,000 that assisted Animal Liberation in acquiring a van equipped with television, DVD player and information tools to be used for specific campaigns and distribution of general information.
The van has been used extensively in busy city and metropolitan areas and has travelled as far a field as country NSW, Queensland, Canberra and Tasmania. It can be parked in peak areas like Pitt Street Mall and outside of crowded movie theatres. The side of the van opens to showcase a large screen playing images of whichever campaign is being focused on with Animal Liberation members on hand to speak with members of the public and hand out flyers and get petitions signed.
It is also an invaluable way of getting direct education into country and rural areas that may not previously had access to this information.
The van has also been used extensively at fairs and other events where large numbers of people gather.
In 2005 Voiceless gave another generous grant of $5,000 that aided in getting the van painted, shelving installed and other maintenance. Through this grant Animal Liberation has now employed a highly qualified person with 21 years experience in animal advocacy to travel to remote and regional areas during December and January. She will be speaking at schools and other community areas. Part of this grant has also been used to purchase educational material for her to distribute.
Animal Liberation is grateful to Voiceless for its sponsorship of this important project.
