Live Exports
Elders is the largest supplier to the live export market, managing the supply of cattle and sheep for markets in North Africa, the Middle East, Mexico, Philippines and Asia.
How you benefit
- You can access the live export market, in any state, through Elders huge network of branches.
- You have the very best access to international markets with Elders close alliances with a number of exporters, such as the exclusive supply relationship with the largest live exporter in Australia, Fares.
- There are live export markets for bulls, cows, heifers and steers of all breeds and all weight ranges, as well as for sheep and lambs.
- The live export market is flexible in the livestock specifications it can handle.
- Producers in all mainland states can access live export markets through Elders branches.
- Adds value to sale price by underpinning the market. |

As you can see Elders is not only involved in the Live Export market, but is clearly proud enough of its involvement to broadcast it to the world through its website.
It was for this reason that Animal Liberation rallied outside Elders Real Estate agency at Neutral Bay on Saturday the 25th March, our aim was to highlight to the Australian public the companies who are profiting from this abhorrent trade. Other animal organisations held their own protests on the same day in a national day of action against Live Exports.
The most recent Live Export investigation was carried out in January by Animals Australia's Communications Director Lyn White, who identified appalling cruelty to sheep and cattle in Egypt, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and Bahrain. "Sixty Minutes" ran a story in February showing cattle at the infamous Bassetin slaughterhouse in Egypt having leg tendons slashed and eyes stabbed to disable and disorient them.
In a press release on the day, Animal Liberation (NSW) spokesperson Angie Stephenson said 'The community response to the 60mins footage was of pure outrage. Even farmers were horrified by the sheer brutality involved in this industry. The Government has temporarily halted animal exports to Egypt, however our sheep and cattle are still being packed onto ships and sent on extreme death journeys to places like the Middle East only to be forgotten about by Live export companies like ELDERS and the Australian Government. Any profit from this trade is generated through animal cruelty, it's dirty money.'
'It's time for ELDERS to focus on real estate and let the evil trade in live animals sail off into the sunset, and with any luck, crash into an iceberg and sink the horrible death ships it employs'
The public were very open and willing to sign petitions, most people knew about the terrible atrocities that go on due to the continuance of the live export trade and were buoyed by the fact that people like us were doing something about it.
If you would like to help the Live Export campaign, please contact Angie in the Animal Liberation office on 02 9262 3221 and she will arrange materials to be sent to you.
Please look out for the next Elders demonstration as they will be monthly and hopefully continue to grow and grow until the damn trade is stopped forever.
