Arna Case - disappointing result but much achieved
Magistrate rules that Arna was not distressed and that the circus did not cause cruelty by taking the elephants away from Arna. With extreme disappointment I have to tell you all that this is the ruling.
Sounds absurd? Not only might you think so but also all of the TV media who were at the court - so much so that their producers told them not to run it, so that when the the circus people walked out of the court they found the television crews packing up and walking away.
WHAT THIS CASE HAS ACHIEVED FOR ARNA AND THE ANIMAL CIRCUS CAMPAIGN
Arna now has a friend, a companion elephant named Gigi. This would never have happened if it wasn't for the unprecedented publicity this court case has attracted nationally and internationally and the consequent pressure upon Stardust Circus and the NSW government.
So, having achieved this, it is up and onwards to intensify the campaign to abolish the use and abuse of exotic animals in circuses.
See you at the next demonstration and council meetings (to have local governments stop animal circuses from performing on council owned and controlled land)!
And thank you to all of our supporters who have contributed so much to this case and the on going campaign.
