Part of a global movement
As part of the Worldwide Save Movement Network, we will be adhering to the principles of peace and respect for all living beings, and truth in our advocacy. Further details can be found in the Memorandum of Understanding (http://thesavemovement.org/start-a-save-group/mou/) and the Save Movement Code of Conduct (http://thesavemovement.org/code-of-conduct/).
The facility
This facility has approximately 8 trucks arrive, four nights a week. A truck can carry anywhere from 500 to 800 turkeys depending on their age and size. That's an approximate slaughter rate of 16,000 turkeys per week.
About turkeys
Turkeys are inquisitive creatures and a wide range of feelings - joy, fear, love, loyalty, pain. Australia produces about 5 million turkeys each year and sales are at their highest in December. It is estimated 75% of turkeys farmed in Australia are slaughtered for Christmas day meals. This number is growing.
Grown in filthy, windowless sheds, they are crammed in approximately 14,000 others, and will never see the light of day. They are unable to display normal behaviours such as spreading their wings, perching and dust bathing. Electric wire runs along the feeders to prevent turkeys from perching on them.
The stress caused by these farming conditions leads to neurotic behaviours such as feather pecking and cannibalism. This is managed by "debeaking" using a hot blade to burn off the sharp tips of their beaks.
Turkeys have been selectively bred and genetically modified to favour rapid growth.
They are slaughtered at just 10-12 weeks old. A drastically shortened life as they can live for 10+ years.

Please come and help us share their stories.

PROTEST the PBR Monster Energy Tour Origin
Join Animal Liberation Newcastle Chapter, Animal Liberation, and Animal Liberation Queensland on Saturday the 22nd of April and send a clear message that animal cruelty is not entertaining.
Rodeos are banned in the UK, parts of the US and the Australian Capital Territory. These inherently cruel events have absolutely no place here in Newcastle.
The PBR claims that this is the "greatest rivalry in Australian sport, a head-to-head competition of the Maroons vs Blues.
This is a competition of state vs state, mate vs mate, in the biggest bull riding competition of the year."
What a farce?!
The truth is that rodeo animals are physically provoked into displaying 'wild' behaviour such as bucking and twisting by the use of cruel devices such as spurs, electric prods and flank straps pulled tightly around their sensitive belly.
These animals suffer many kinds of injuries with some being killed as a result of their severe injuries.
Remember if you can't attend for the entire time please don't let that stop you – all support is appreciated!
Important information
It is vital that all attendees of this event strictly follow the organiser's safety advice at all times before and during the event. Anyone not adhering to safety advice will be asked to leave.
Please DO NOT attend if you are unwell.

A Dog's Breakfast
EVENT POSTPONED
As the Applicant has withdrawn the planning proposal and due to the current climate emergency flooding affecting those who live and work in the Northern Rivers, we are postponing this event. Once we have a new date, we will update this event page.
-
Animal Liberation, the Coalition for the Protection of Greyhounds, Animal Liberation QLD, and No More Tracks are supporting Green's MP, Mandy Nolan's, A Dog's Breakfast Event.
-
The proposal for a new Greyhound Racing Track at Chinderah is a dog's breakfast!
We're a community that loves our dogs and doesn't want the greyhound industry set up its largest racetrack in our backyard. It's cruelty on a commercial scale.
Bring your dog and join us for a fun community get together for a dog's breakfast*.
All dogs and their humans welcome.
Prizes for the dog that looks most like the owner. Bushiest tail. The dog with most expressive eyes. Best head tilt. The dog with the best mullet. The dog with the biggest smile. More categories to be announced.
*we'll have tea and coffee for humans but to ensure a safe environment for all, there's no actual breakfast for dogs. We will have water bowls and doggie poops bags though. Please make sure your dog is on a lead at all times.

Please note you need to register for this event: https://www.mandy4richmond.com/a-dogs-breakfast/.
Sydney Animal Rights March 2022
On Saturday April 2nd 2022, we'll take to the streets of Sydney to protest the systemic abuse of non-human animals under Australian law.
Animals are forced to race, fight, entertain, forced to live in cages, containers, captivity, have their babies taken, their fur ripped out, and their date of death decided before they are even born.
We call for a future free from slaughterhouses, racetracks, and puppy farms. A future where 'wild' animals remain wild, where 'food' denotes produce, not flesh, and where animals are no longer viewed as commodities.
The march will be a silent protest. There will be no shouting, cheering or chanting, just the steady beat of drums.
If you support ending unnecessary animal suffering, join us on April 2nd at Belmore Park, 11:30am for a 12pm start.
Smash that 'Going' button, and 'Like' the Sydney Animal Rights March page to stay tuned for announcements.
PLEASE NOTE: This will be a lawful assembly; police approval has already been granted. We will have a police escort and will adhere to NSW Health restrictions at the time.
Protest to STOP the new Ipswich greyhound track
Join Animal Liberation Queensland in protest to stop the $40 million Ipswich greyhound track.
Racing Queensland, with the support of the Palaszczuk Government, wants to build a new greyhound racing track in Ipswich.
The proposal has been endorsed by the Deputy Premier & Planning Minister, Steven Miles, and is currently being considered using a Ministerial Infrastructure Designation process - a process that side-steps local government.
Thousands of Queenslanders have lodged objections against this, now let's keep the momentum going with a protest in Ipswich.
